iniBurger Is Bringing 100% Halal Gourmet Burgers to Eastridge Center in San Jose

If you spend time on the east side of San Jose, in Evergreen, Silver Creek, or Alum Rock, I have some good food news to share. iniBurger, the Bay Area's fast growing halal burger concept, is opening a new location inside Eastridge Center this August. It will sit in The Eatery food court at 2200 Eastridge Loop, and it is set to become the sixth location for a brand that has quietly built a loyal following across the region.

I like to keep an eye on what is moving into our local retail centers, because it tells a story about where a neighborhood is headed. A well loved food concept choosing Eastridge is a good sign for that corridor, and it gives families another solid, inclusive option close to home.

A Story Built on Resilience

iniBurger's story is one worth knowing, because it did not start as a burger concept at all. Co-founders Abdul and Leeza Popal were originally franchisees of Burgerim, a slider chain that collapsed in 2019 when its founder left the country and stopped supporting franchise owners. The Popals had reportedly put more than a million dollars into building out their locations, and suddenly found themselves without corporate backing.

Rather than walk away, they rebranded their existing Bay Area locations and built something new from the ground up. Abdul brought a background in technology and corporate development, having helped lead CafePress through its 2012 IPO, and he applied that same operational discipline to reimagining what a fast casual burger brand could be. Leeza co-founded the company alongside him in June 2020. What emerged was iniBurger, a concept built around clean sourcing, full transparency, and a menu that welcomes every diner to the table.

Where You Can Find iniBurger

Since that rebrand, iniBurger has grown steadily across the Bay Area. Current locations include Berkeley, Campbell, Fremont, Pleasanton, and Santa Clara, with the new Eastridge Center location marking its first spot on the east side of San Jose. The brand has said it is actively looking at further expansion across California, so this may not be the last new location we see locally.

What Makes the Menu Different

Every protein at iniBurger, from the beef to the chicken to the wings, is 100% halal certified. That includes 100% Angus beef and free range, antibiotic free, hormone free chicken. The buns are custom baked by an artisan bakery to the brand's specifications, and the kitchen leans into a scratch made approach with hand chopped produce and house made sauces and dressings.

The menu is built to be genuinely inclusive rather than an afterthought for dietary needs. You will find:

• B'igi Burgers, the brand's signature 4 oz burgers, alongside smaller 2 oz M'ini Burgers
• Grilled and crispy Nashville hot chicken sandwiches
• Falafel and plant based options for vegetarian diners
• Gluten free buns and lettuce wraps
• iniWings, a virtual wing and tender concept served out of the same kitchens, with sauces ranging from classic Buffalo to a house Red Chili Garlic
• Loaded fries, shakes, and the usual fast casual sides done with a bit more care

The Eastridge location will also connect well with the neighborhood's transit access, and there has been talk of a future VTA Light Rail extension that would bring rail service even closer to the center.
